Environmental Initiatives

With a view to realizing a sustainable society, Risu Plastic Group is implementing various environmentally friendly initiatives.

Development of Environmentally friendly Products

Environmental Activities

  • Reduce CO2 emissions by reducing consumption of electricity, LPG, hydraulic fluid, etc.
  • Achieve the target of zero emissions (with respect to the disposal of industrial waste) through Organic processing of materials, residues, etc.
  • Greenification & beautification of the areas around our plants

History

1981 Gifu Plastic Industry Co., Ltd. Launch of "Foldable Container" a distribution container that contributes to the reduction in CO2 emissions by rationalizing distribution (the group subsequently launched various other foldable containers).
1989 Risu Pack Co., Ltd. Discontinued the use of chlorofluorocarbons, which are used in the manufacture of PSP sheets and which cause considerable harm to the environment. Butane gas was adopted as a substitute (an industry first).
1990 Risu Pack Co., Ltd. A-PET resin completely substituted for vinyl chloride resin in the manufacture of containers as part of an effort to reduce harm from resinification (an industry first).
Launch of container products made from low energy consumption PP filler.
1991 Risu Plastic Group Start of development and research into environmentally friendly materials.
Risu Pack Co., Ltd.

Plant for recycling PSP trays established, self-led PSP tray collections started.

1992 Gifu Plastic Industry Co., Ltd.

Launch of "Plastic Pallet" which, uses recycled materials.

Risu Co., Ltd.

Launch of household product range titled "Earth Conscious" made from recycled plastic from trays collected through Risu Pack (the group subsequently started using recycled materials for household products).

Risu Kogyo Co., Ltd. Launch of "Plastic-Wood" an imitation wood made from recycled plastic (the group subsequently starts using recycled materials for construction materials).
1994 Gifu Plastic Industry Co., Ltd. Group awarded the Recycling Promotion Association, Chairperson's Prize for its "research into resource recovery from combustion ash and waste plastic."
Eco Mark awarded to "Wonder BOX" a waste container that degrades kitchen waste into compost.
1995 Gifu Plastic Industry Co., Ltd. Launch of an all-resin foldable container designed to facilitate smooth recycling.
1998 Risu Pack Co., Ltd.

Liquefaction installation established in order to ascertain the optimum method for recycling returned trays.

Group awarded the Recycling Promotion Association, Chairperson's Prize for its "PSP tray return activities."
2000 Gifu Plastic Industry Co., Ltd. Group receives ISO14001 certification for its environmental management.
Risu Pack Co., Ltd. Group registered as an "entity that engages in recycling" pursuant to the Containers and Packaging Recycling Law.
2001 Gifu Plastic Industry Co., Ltd. Main plant registered as an "environmentally friendly workplace of Gifu Prefecture" (E plant).
Group awarded the Recycling Promotion Association, Chairperson's Prize for its "recycling activities with regard to recycled pallets."
2002 Risu Pack Co., Ltd. Implementation of thermal recycling in order to ascertain the optimum method for recycling returned trays.
Risu Kogyo Co., Ltd. Eco Mark awarded to "Plastic-Wood," imitation wood made from recycled plastic.
2003 Risu Pack Co., Ltd. Launch of Japan’s first salad containers made from biomass plastic (polylactic resin).
2004 Gifu Plastic Industry Co., Ltd. Group enters "environmental creation agreement" with Gifu Prefecture and Kakamigahara City.
2005 Gifu Plastic Industry Co., Ltd. Launch of returnable boxes "Risu Box" as an environmentally friendly alternative to cardboard.
Risu Pack Co., Ltd. olylactic resin container adopted as a public container during the Aichi Expo.
2006 Gifu Plastic Industry Co., Ltd. Solar power system installed at main plant.
2007 Risu Plastic Group

Group receives Environment Minister’s Prize for its greenification of the walls of the Dai-Gifu Building (head office).

2008 Gifu Plastic Industry Co., Ltd. Recognition for "participation and excellent environmental activities" received from the Council for Promoting City of Environmental Activities, Kakamiahara City, Gifu Prefecture.
2009 Gifu Plastic Industry Co., Ltd. Launch of TECCELL, a honeycomb-structure material that contributes to resource saving, energy saving, and reduction of CO2 emissions.
2010 Risu Plastic Group Solar power system was installed on the roof of the Dai-Gifu Building (head office).
2011 Risu Pack Co., Ltd. Launch of hybrid products, a mixture of existing and plant derived materials.
